In November 2025, I was having a nice hot coffee with my wife at Springs Souk, right next to our house. We had just gotten married that year and still didn’t have kids.
As we were talking about life and hobbies, she suddenly said:
“You know what is a hobby that is chic, fun, and a bit unexpected? Gardening.”
And something about that stuck with me. The word gardening kept lingering in my head for weeks.
But then I thought… how can I even garden in Dubai? Especially in the summer when temperatures go above 40°C?
So I started researching. And I realized something interesting. During the winter in Dubai, you can actually grow almost anything in your backyard. Summer has its own crops too, and you can even grow things indoors.
So I went on Amazon and bought a garden bed, soil mix, and seeds. I chose cucumber, cherry radish, and basil. I set everything up… making every mistake you can imagine along the way.
This is how it looked.

Little did I know that with a bit of care, watering, and lots of trial and error, I eventually ended up with tasty radish, fresh basil, and loads of cucumbers.

But then something unexpected happened.
Our neighbor’s daughter came to visit. She’s almost four years old. She walked up to the garden bed, looked at the radishes, and said:
“How come there is radish outside like this?”
(I guess the color caught her attention.)
I showed her the seeds and explained how this big plant started from this tiny little seed. Her eyes went wide and she said:
“I want to plant my own.”
So I gave her a few seeds, a small watering can, and we planted them together.
From that day on, she kept coming back to check on them. Every single day.
And that’s when it hit me.
This might be one of the best activities you can ever give a child — connecting them to nature.
After that, I started doing the same gardening activity with the kids of friends who came to visit. I bought small pots, soil, and different seeds, and we would garden together. And the best part is that they got to take them back home with them!

And that’s how Kids Garden was born, with our Kids Garden Complete Grow Kit which will make this experience enjoyable, fun and simple for both parents and kids.
And I can’t wait to one day do the same with my own kid.
