The birthday guide · Dubai & UAE
A little pot for every child, a covered table and a few helpful adults. That is a lovely starting point for a gardening birthday activity at home in Dubai.
You do not need a garden. Children can plant together indoors, then take their pots home to care for with their families. Here is how to keep the party simple.
Still choosing your take-home gift? Our birthday party favour ideas compare six options. This guide is for parents ready to plan the planting activity.
Count one kit for every child
Include the birthday child and any siblings joining in. If you want a kit to practise with, count that separately from the kits for your guests.
Choose from Party Packs of 12, 18 or 24 complete grow kits:
For 18 children taking part, the Box of 18 provides one kit each. If your guest count already includes the birthday child, there is no need to count them twice. Allow separately for table coverings, trays and labels.
Set up a simple planting table
A covered dining table can work for an apartment birthday. Keep it separate from the food, leave room to move around and use trays if you want to catch spills. For an outdoor party, check the conditions close to the day and have an indoor option.
Each grow kit includes an 8 cm bamboo pot, a peat-free coir growing disc, a seed bag and planting instructions. Party Packs bring together Basil, Cherry Radish and Mimosa kits.
Have these extras ready:
- A wipe-clean table covering
- Water and small containers for an adult to help pour
- Name labels and a marker
- A dry place for the instructions
- Cloths for tidying and access to handwashing
- A stable place for finished pots and a way to carry them upright
Practise once and arrange adult help
Read the instructions before the party. If you have a separate practice kit, try the setup so you know where children may need help. Keep each seed bag with its matching instructions and add names before the pots get damp.
The kits are for ages 3+ with adult supervision. Arrange help with water, seeds and instructions, especially for younger guests. Keep seeds and growing materials out of mouths, and keep younger siblings away from loose materials.
Give planting a relaxed place in the party
You could reserve a 30–40 minute slot for the activity and tidying. This is a suggested planning allowance, not a tested completion time. Adjust it after trying the kit and considering your guests’ ages.
- Show everyone what to do. Introduce the pot, growing disc and seeds. Explain that the growing happens after the party.
- Plant together. Follow the kit instructions for adding water, preparing the growing mix and planting. Work in smaller groups if table space is limited.
- Label and tidy. Put pots somewhere stable, gather the instructions and have everyone wash their hands before snacks or cake.
If your schedule is already full, give guests unopened kits to plant at home instead. They still receive a complete activity to enjoy with an adult.
Plan how the pots get home
Match each pot to its name and keep the instructions with it. Ask an adult to carry the pot upright. If you use a tray or carrier, check that it holds the pot securely; avoid leaving a freshly planted pot loose in a soft party bag.
Tell families which seeds their child planted. A simple message works: “Keep the pot upright, follow the growing instructions and help your child look for changes at home.”
Sprouting times vary with the seeds and conditions. Invite children to draw their pot on planting day and again when they notice a change, without promising a plant by a particular date.
Order before the birthday rush
Allow time to receive and check the kits before the party. Kids Garden offers fast delivery across the UAE. Check the shipping policy for current processing and delivery details. If the party is soon, ask us about timing before ordering.
